For over 85 years, the Ottawa Conservation District has been your “Boots on the Ground” resource for environmental management in Ottawa County.
We offer community-based programs providing technical, educational, and financial assistance to address soil, water, forest, and other natural resource issues on private and public lands. Our programs reach more than 10 counties in West Michigan and we harbor extensive community partnerships within Ottawa County and beyond. The Ottawa Conservation District is a non-partisan and volunteer-led organization working to address natural resource issues for all residents of Ottawa County. Your generous support enables us to continue the vital work of supporting local, sustainable farming practices and protecting our native habitats for future generations in Ottawa County.

When you give to the Ottawa Conservation District, you support our efforts to:
- Provide free, accessible natural resources educational programs, such as our Cultivating Resilience Farm Field Day or Conservation on Tap events.
- Cultivate the next generation of conservationists by partnering with schools, such as Robinson Elementary, Ferry Elementary, the Ottawa Area ISD Career Line Tech Center, and Ravenna High School FFA, to instill the importance of natural resource conservation and enhance natural resource curriculum.
- Manage and reduce the impact of invasive plant and pest species in seven West Michgian counties, including the education and removal efforts of Hemlock Woolly Adelgid, Japaneese Knotweed, Eurpoean Frog-Bit, Phragmites, and more.
- Increase community accessibility to native plants during our spring and fall annual native plant and tree fundraisers, providing Ottawa County residents with essential native plants to restore native habitat and reduce groundwater usage on landscape watering.
- Improve water quality by providing financial assistance for failing septic system replacements and agricultural best management practices through our Watershed Restoration Programs.
- Improve surface and groundwater qualtiy and quantity, as well as native habitats, by providing techncial and financial assistance to farmers and forest landowners for conservation practices thorugh our Farmland & Water Quality Conservation Initiative.
- Provide free, site-specific technical assitance and verification programs to Ottawa County farmers for improved natural resource management through the Michgian Agriculture Environmental Assurance Program (MAEAP) and Produce Safety Program.
- Partner with, and serve as a liason between a variety of local, county, state, and federal organizations and Ottawa County residents.

Thank you to everyone who helped donated to our vehicle fundraiser in winter 2024, with the funds donated plus the insurance money we recevied from our totaled truck, we were able to finally purchase another car our staff can use to conduct site visits, attend and host educational events, conduct field monitoring work, and more.
