Hemlock Woolly Adelgid Impacts & Actions – Presented by Natalie Bekins; West Michigan CISMA Coordinator

  • Hemlock Woolly Adelgid is an invasive forest insect that has killed hundreds of thousands of Hemlocks in the Eastern States, threatening millions of Hemlock trees in Michigan alone. The West Michigan Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area has been surveying and treating Hemlock trees throughout Western Michigan since approximately 2018. Natalie Bekins will help attendees understand the role the West Michigan CISMA plays in fight against Hemlock Woolly Adelgid, teach them out how to identify adelgids on their property, and identify treatment options to protect their Hemlocks. Visit www.michiganinvasives.org/westmichiganconservation/ for additional information.

Attendance will be limited to 45 people per event. Please register in advance to reserve your spot here.

This event is free to attend but we highly encourage all participants to support our hosts, Grand Armory Brewing Company, by enjoying a beer or craft soda! Grand Armory has a number of tasty beverages and food items available for purchase. In return Grand Armory Brewing will be making a donation to the Ottawa Conservation District to support the installation of a local school educational native garden. Learn more about Grand Armory Brewing Company at grandarmorybrewing.com.

Come on out to learn a little bit about Ottawa County-specific conservation topics and support local actions!
